LAND REFORM EXPERT TO GIVE EDINBURGH LECTURE
One of Scotland's leading authorities on land reform is to give a public lecture in Edinburgh on Wednesday 27th June.
Andy Wightman, an author and researcher who has been investigating Edinburghs` Common Good Fund for the past 18 months, will be the speaker.

WE WERE ALERTED THAT AT 2PM on the 8th June THE COUNCILS ONLINE PORTAL WAS CLOSED FOR TAKING COMMENTS ON ALL CALTONGATE APPLICATIONS. THIS IS WRONG, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN OPEN UNTIL midnight. Closing date has now been extended to Wednesday 13th June to compensate for this error.
You have until this Wednesday 13th June 5pm to put in your objections. See below for objection for all 11 planning applications to print off and hand it into the following address, it is staffed 24hrs at the front desk. If you can`t do this, email your objections to bruce.nicolson@edinburgh.gov.uk

Mountgrange and Hotels
Perhaps this is why Manish Chande says it is a 5 star hotel or nothing.
Manish Chande of Mountgrange, the group behind the regeneration of the area said: "Accor is an international leader in the leisure sector and the Sofitel brand represents the height of five-star hotel hospitality.
"We believe it will be a major asset for Edinburgh and its future economic prosperity."

Trillium's Millions Land 30 Accor Hotels | Accor has agreed a sale and lease back deal involving 30 of its hotels (5,000 rooms) in the UK. Land Securities Trillium (LST), part of the Land Securities Group, will pay £439 million for the mix of Ibis and Novotel properties, which Accor will operate under 12-year variable leases for a total of 84 years. LST will pay an additional £35 million over four years towards the renovation of the portfolio. Accor intends to use the agreement to create a long-term partnership with Land Securities that will allow the hotel chain to develop further in the UK.

On the 6th Feb 07 Mountgrange have submitted more supporting documents to their first plannning application for podium. See the last two from bottom to be truly shocked and why it is vital to object to this application.2nd from bottom shows the podium itself....if you think thats a lot of concrete..the bottom image of how the finished development would look is worse, see white blocks at bottom of Cranston St which rise up above Jeffrey St. Zoom in for maximum effect.
