Felix Waterhouse Bristol
I wish to lodge an OBJECTION TO the following CALTONGATE Planning Application Number 07/04400/FUL
I used to live in Edinburgh though I now reside in Bristol. I am particularly fond of this area of Edinburgh as I like the way this street and route have been unchanged for centuries in some cases. I find that the development of this area, as is proposed, actually does nothing to ENHANCE this area. Instead, it is a very run-of-the-mill "mixed-use" development, offering nothing outstanding in terms of architecture, retails uses or things for local people or the public. So I feel that this development would forever alter and marr the character of this area, I certainly would look not to return to this area. It would not interest me, and may indeed put me off visiting Edinburgh, I really find it that repulsive. On top of that, I find it wholly bourgeois in design and direction - 5 star hotel, upmarket everything, expensive doing nothing for the real people of the area or the urban fabric - which is architecturally, an area typical of Scottish working class quarters. I strongly advise you, with all my heart and head, not to let the application and development of this area go ahead. I also disagree with the proposals for the following reasons...
I hope you take all of these considerations on board
Yours sincerely
Felix Waterhouse
